OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G Review
Oppo has set a comeback with its new OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G in 2021, it was launched on 1st March 2021. It comes in a single storage variant of 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage at a price point of Rs. 35,990* and supports 5G spectrum. It comes in two mind soothing unique colors - Astray Blue and Starry Black. OPPO's new smartphone is loaded with Mediatek MT6889Z Dimensity 1000+ (7nm) an OCTA-Core processor which is decent at this price point. In the aspect of physical build, the OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G has a 6.55-inch display with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and has 402-pixel per inch. which is quite a good combination of processor and display for work, entertainment, and gaming purpose.
Design
Oppo Reno5 5G Pro has a quite amusing slim and light design. It has a 6.55-inch display with a bezel-less punch-hole design which houses the front camera, the rear back of the phone comes with a matte glass finish, and has a Quad Camera Setup with a LED Flash at the left corner. The phone has dimensions of 159.7 x 73.2 x 7.6 mm and weighs 173g. It also has the support of scratch-resistant glass from Panda for the back panel (Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for the black version). The phone has a slim and low weight design, build quality is pretty good despite using plastic. The phone has two vibrant colors, Astral Blue and Starry Black. The rear cameras barely protrude all making the phone comfortable to carry. The top head of the phone houses a secondary microphone with branding "designed by Reno", left corner houses the volume rocker, at the bottom, there is present a duel slim tray, primary microphone, and speaker grill
Camera And Display
It comes with a Quad-Camera setup of variations 64 megapixels primary camera + 8 megapixels for ultra-wide-angle + 2 megapixels for the macro shorts and a 2-megapixel monochrome camera and a 32 megapixels front camera , the camera setup is decent but is great optimized to work with the system. Oppo has an added a new "AI Highlight Video" feature to its camera software in Oppo Reno5 which either optimizes the footage by brightening and clearing things in low light or enables HDR depending on the light present around the subject, This works for selfie pictures too. It also concludes a new picture-in-picture mode for videos. The rest is all same as its predecessor Oppo Reno4 Pro like AI Colour Portrait, Ultra Steady video, Pro mode. Oppo has provided a marvelous 6.55-inch 2400 x 1080p Super AMOLED FHD+ display with curved edges. The provided panel is well saturated and has a clear vibrance. Since the panel comes with a 90Hz refresh rate, the user doesn't experience any frame drops which is a quite good feature for the users. It also has HDR10+ certification with a peak brightness of 1100 nits, touch sampling rate of 180Hz. The display is supported with the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 cover glass over the display.
Performance And Battery Life
Oppo has empowered its new Oppo Reno5 5G Pro with MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ 's a high-end SoC with an integrated 5G modem. It includes four fast ARM Cortex-A77 cores at up to 2.6 GHz and four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2 GHz (Octa-Core with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing) which gives a smooth performance in every aspect. The phone gives a decent performance in gaming with a little tint of good optimization with battery. The processor provided by Oppo has Geekbench 4.1 - 4.4 64 Bit (Single Core)test shows 3688 pointsand Geekbench 4.1 - 4.4 64 Bit (Multi-Core) test shows 11987 points. The phone comes with a battery of 4350mAh and provides a great battery life of 16 hours and 34 minutes in our HD video loop test, which is very good considering the powerful SoC. With normal use, I was easily able to average about a day and a half on one charge. The battery charges incredibly quickly too when using the bundled 65W charger.
Verdict
Overall, Oppo has provided a decent flagship phone with some key features of support of 5G spectrum and a SuperAMOLED FHD+ with HDR10 + certification 90Hz refresh rate displays and Super VOOC charger of 65W Oppo Reno5 5G Pro provides performance better than its predecessor Reno4 and great optimization at almost the same price. We can consider that Oppo reno5 pro is a pretty good flagship phone as its first 5G Spectrum.
